Mentoring
Not sure where to start...the NWN Mentoring Scheme gives you the chance to talk about your ideas with a NWN "friend"
Set up in 2000 the NWN Befriending Scheme now called the Mentoring Scheme offers a telephone support service to women who would like to talk improve their self confidence and self esteem, increase motivation, broaden their horizons and raise aspitarations and achievment. The scheme is aimed at providing that helping hand via a network of Volunteer Mentors. |
 |
From our work we find that women feel unsure what to do next and for all sorts of reasons may be lacking the confidence to take positive steps. They can find it difficult to access good information and advice.
The NWN Mentoring Scheme was set up to provide support on a one to one basis that would help women to identify more clearly what they would like to do and how they might be able to best achieve this.

Would you like to become a Volunteer Mentor? How does the Mentoring Scheme work?
When you volunteer to become a Mentor you will join the next training programme. After completing the training you will be allocated a mentee. We will then keep in touch with you to find out how things have gone and what other support you need. We also check to see when you would like to mentor further women. Contact with us can be by post, email or telephone – you choose.
All contact between mentors and mentee is by telephone.
What are the potential benefits for the Volunteer?
